To deepen my understanding of Tarot, I've made it a habit to ask the question,
What can I learn about the cards today?
I pull two cards and jot down my first impressions. I then observe how these cards show up on that day.
These cards were pulled on November 1st.

Sudden inspiration? Circumstances lining up for a creative endeavour?
These cards came to life when I was listening to Diablo Cody’s interview on Q with Tom Power. Although writing was her passion, she didn’t think she’d ever be able to make a living doing it. Nevertheless, she wrote, for fun, as a young Page of Cups would, just following her heart.
And then she had an Eight of Wands + Page of Cups moment.
Cody says, “by a sheer stroke of random bizarre luck,” a Hollywood manager stumbled on her blog and encouraged her to write a movie. She tried it, and says she still doesn’t “know how it happened the way it happened; it was wild how quickly it all went down.” She never expected the success that would follow from that pivotal moment.
A fish springing from a cup, startling the creative Page with an unexpected message of inspiration.
And eight wands, all lined up, whizzing through the air, moving toward a target.
Everything falling into place.
Inspiration, opportunity, a flurry of activity, manifestation.
The cards spoke again later that day when I listened to the first chapter of Adam Elenbaas’s new book, The Oracle Speaks. A scene he describes clearly evokes the two cards.
Picture a young Page of Cups, on a journey of self-discovery, following an inner urge. The eight wands lead the way, clearing a path to a fresh perspective, a new way of connecting.
When I pull cards to learn about them, they don’t always show up in my personal life. But this time, they correlated perfectly with how I was feeling: child-like wonder at the way the cards speak coupled with a rush of enthusiasm to share my experience of symbols showing up in everyday situations.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve felt eager to publicly post insights about Tarot cards or planetary archetypes. But it’s the first time I’ve taken wand-like action and started googling the difference between Wordpress, Substack and Ghost.
I went to bed that night, bursting with ideas, giddy with excitement, imagining so many possibilities. I wondered for a moment how I would proceed, but told myself, as I often do when I’m starting to feel overwhelmed, that whatever is meant to happen will happen. I’ll do what I can and the rest will take care of itself.
